Deep Russia: There will be no mobilization, which means there will be

The report analyzes how Russians discuss the possibility of a new wave of mobilization and why they do not trust the authorities’ denials. We examine how Kremlin decisions, legislative changes, elections, the prolonged war, and conscription influence public sentiment.

We also analyze how the topic of mobilization spreads across regions, what arguments Russians use, and why the experience of 2022 remains the main reason for distrust in official statements. We also track how audiences respond to the possibility of a new call-up — from criticism of the authorities and sarcasm to looking for ways to avoid mobilization.

The monitoring covers the period from August 3–9, 2026, and is based on an analysis of regional communities on VKontakte and Telegram.
