During the Kyiv Security Forum, experts in information security, media, and strategic communications discussed how Russia is using artificial intelligence to scale information operations and the challenges this poses to democratic societies.
Participants emphasized that automation, the speed of content distribution, and the scale of information campaigns are already reshaping the rules of engagement in the information space. According to the speakers, the rapid development of AI requires a fundamental reassessment of approaches to countering disinformation and protecting the information environment.
The discussion also addressed social media policies regarding AI-generated content, the transformation of the information landscape, and emerging risks for democracies.
The panel was moderated by Liubov Tsybulska, Founder and Director of Join Ukraine.

Panel participants included:
— Ihor Rozkladai, Deputy Director of the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law;
— Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation;
— Roman Honcharenko, journalist at Deutsche Welle;
— Adam Rutland, representative of Centre for Information Resilience.
According to Join Ukraine, discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on information security are becoming increasingly important, as these technologies are already being actively used as instruments of influence and manipulation in the global information environment.
